Camperdown in 1885

"At Camperdown the tourist passing through en route for Warrnambool, Belfast, or Portland   misses other magnificent scenery.  Everyone bound on a holiday trip should lay over here for at least one day and ascend Mount Leura and survey the view over the lakes from the public park. A week might be spent here with advantage. And Camperdown is not a bush township. It possesses first class hotel accommodation, and a visitor can be perfectly happy and comfortable, and buy everything necessary at its store".
