The Willmetts
Horses, Sheep,
 Queensland Gold
& Winton

The bottom two pictures next to the pump organ in Edwardia's Drawing Room, represent the Willmett family,  who may have originated in France.  Family folklore has them moving to Sussex with William the Conqueror but to date their presence at Petworth House in Sussex begins with  James Willmott.    James was born in Exeter in Devon.   He changed Willmott to Willmett and married his third wife in Petworth in 1802.
